Driver Fled? Put a Trial-Ready Team on Your Insurance Claim
A driver who leaves the scene can leave you without a name, insurance information, or an obvious source of compensation. Meanwhile, medical expenses, missed income, vehicle damage, and other losses can mount as the police investigation continues.
If the driver can’t be identified, uninsured motorist coverage may become an important source of compensation. Whether it applies depends on the policy language, available limits, evidence, and facts of the crash.
Call (504) 438-2342 for a consultation with our hit-and-run accident lawyers about the crash, available evidence, and potential insurance coverage.
How We Build a New Orleans Hit-and-Run Claim
At Cossé Injury Law, we handle auto-accident claims for injured people across Louisiana. We take charge of communications with insurers, gather evidence, and prepare to litigate when necessary.
A claim against your own insurer isn’t automatically cooperative or straightforward. The company may dispute coverage, fault, the cause of your injuries, or the value of your losses. We examine each issue and build the claim around the policy, crash evidence, and medical documentation.

When Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Coverage May Apply
Uninsured motorist coverage can apply to bodily injuries caused by an unknown or uninsured vehicle, but it isn’t automatic in every hit-and-run case. A coverage review may consider who qualifies as an insured person, which vehicles are covered, the available limits, exclusions, notice requirements, evidence of physical contact, and any other applicable policies.
When an unknown vehicle causes a crash without physical contact, Louisiana law may require proof from an independent and disinterested witness. This is someone who witnessed the event but has no personal stake in the claim.
Underinsured motorist coverage may become relevant if police identify the driver but that person’s liability limits aren’t enough to address the documented losses. The statute, policy terms, damages, and available limits determine what compensation may be pursued.
Trial-Ready Representation Against Insurance Companies
Chip Cossé founded our firm in 2013 after handling auto-accident cases and complex personal injury litigation. That background informs our approach to contested claims involving disputed fault, medical causation, and insurance issues.
Our dedicated trial attorneys treat every case as though it’s our only case. We handle insurer communications, organize the supporting evidence, and prepare for courtroom representation when litigation becomes necessary.
Get Your Crash, Evidence, & Coverage Reviewed
A consultation can clarify what evidence to preserve, whether an insurance policy may respond, and which next step fits the facts of your crash. Contact us promptly while witness information, surveillance footage, vehicle evidence, and medical records may still be available.
We handle communications with the insurer and prepare each claim for litigation when necessary. We don’t get paid unless you get paid.
